Business Start-Up support from HBV Enterprise

Thinking of starting up in business near us? Then our free, professional and confidential business start-up service is for you.

Step 1 - FREE Business Awareness (Start Up) Seminars
These cover everything you need to know about how to start and run a successful enterprise. We sometimes offer two different types. If you are just starting to develop ideas, "Let's Start Talking Business Ideas" is for you.  If you have started work on a business plan already, or have a start date in mind, we suggest the "Let's Talk Starting In Business" seminar. During these seminars you develop an action plan to take away and work on at your own pace. Click here to find out more.

Step 2 - FREE Advice Sessions
After the seminar, complete your action plan in your own time. Then you can return for free, confidential 1 to 1 support. One of our advisers will talk you through developing your business plan, and help if you get stuck.

Your adviser may also be able to book you onto FREE training courses/ seminars to help you work on your plan.

You can also use the FREE high speed broadband computers here at our centre to help you research and write your business plan.

Step 3 - FREE Enterprise Start-up Clinic - Ideal for fast start-up advice!
Almost ready to start, or just starting in business? Then get a "start-up healthcheck" from our Start-Up Clinic. This HBV service is free to local business start-ups. We will give you independent, confidential feedback on your plan, and help with any questions you have.
When booking, bring a copy of your business plan (if you have one) so we can have time to review it. We will also need your start date, business trading address and any issues you would like to ask about. To learn more or book the clinic, call or email Jane Henderson on 020 7241 7087 jane@hbv.org.uk .

New Entrepreneur Scholarship (with business start-up grant)

Twice a year, we run "Britain's best business start-up programme."  You don't have to be from Hackney to apply. The offer includes free part-time support to help you develop your business idea, and the chance to apply for a grant when you are ready to start trading.

Flexible, 1 to 1 advice is included and lasts from 4 - 9 months. However, demand for the course always exceeds the supply of places. This means that only the best applications are accepted. The programme content is:-

  • an induction day to meet the team, your fellow scholars and help you start developing your business idea.
  • an intensive, 4 day training course at HBV.
  • a course of business seminars at a London University.
  • the opportunity to gain a useful and relevant qualification while you are on the programme.
  • eligibility to apply for a grant once your plan is complete and you're ready to start.
  • 1 to 1 meetings and support from a professional adviser at HBV.
  • business networking opportunities.
