Paloma Etienne | filmmaker

My name is Paloma Etienne, and I am a filmmaker, running my own film and video production company.  Read more here.

Starting up on my own was natural for me. As an artist, I’ve always wanted to make my projects a reality.  I needed funding to re-launch my business and produce a showreel (short film) to progress in the industry.

HBV Enterprise provided sound business support as well as financial help. I was able to improve my presentation showreel and successfully re-launch.  Before going to HBV for help and advice I had tried several routes, and David Lobley from HBV was one of the few people that listened to me, supported my ideas and encouraged me when I had problems.

The best thing about going into business has been seeing my projects turned into realities.  I found it easy to explain my ideas, and to pre-plan.   The worst thing about running your own business is the stress that can come from staying afloat!

I am developing a feature film at the moment. Although I am no longer based in London, I will stay in touch with HBV and inform them of my progress as I want them to be part of my success!

My advice to anyone starting out in business would be ' listen to your advisor, even if you think they don’t know much about your line of business. They represent the real world, with a soft touch.'
