Where
We’re an Enterprise Education Charity based in Hackney, which is London’s poorest borough.

Why
Hackney is changing for the better, however some people need a helping hand, because the borough is also the number 2 most deprived area in the country.

How
We teach people about enterprise because it gives them new skills and better chances. They become more employable, and some go on to start and grow their own successful businesses, creating jobs along the way. We also help local people finance and grow their businesses, which stimulates the local economy.

The Social Investment we make
Over each of the last 5 years, we have on average:-
• Answered 5,370 individual enquiries
• Delivered 1,339 advice sessions
• Given 769 days of training to local people

The Social Return on Our Investment
Since starting our Finance Service, we have levered over £13.3 million of finance into local small businesses, which has created and preserved 1,101 jobs.

HBV Enterprise has also helped at least 1,629 businesses to start up, and create 2,368 jobs.

Over each of the last 5 years, we have on average:-
• Supported 68 new business start ups that created 91 new jobs
• Sustained 63 further jobs that were at risk

• Since its launch in 2010, Hackney Enterprise Network has led to the confirmed growth of 55 local small businesses and the signing of a further 55 new business-to-business contracts.
